We tag Dorothy and Courtney… Dorothy, call us if you need help ;)

Daddy and Millie like to play a game called "I'm gonna get you". Daddy chases Millie, who runs away as fast as she can.

Well we celebrated Amelia's first Easter! Yay! It was soooo much fun. We went through two Easter dresses but what little girl doesn't like to play dress up, right? Who care if it's because the first one got dirty!? Oh, those bunny ears looked so cute. Amelia was just the sweetest most adorable little thing ever. When we gave her her Easter basket she just knew that it was all for her and it was something special. She glowed bright and beautifully, with a big smile on her face. We gave her a baby friendly basket custom made with books, a big pretty flower, a rubber ducky (her first, and favorite) an egg puzzle - only two pieces, she can handle that, and an egg decorating kit for all of us to do together. We all had a fabulous day as we hope you did too :)

"An Angel in the book of life,
wrote down the baby's birth
and whispered as she closed the book...
too beautiful for earth..."

My job is a very special one: We help children. We watch them grow. We bandage their wounds. We take care of them when they're sick. We listen to their hearts. We prevent great illness. We take foreign bodies out of their nose. We help them breath. We clean their ears. We give them medicine, some like it... some don't. Often they cry, but we make them smile and (this is very important) we give them stickers!

We see a lot of children and a whole lot of babies. They are all too cute. Some are big and some are very small. Some are round and some are a little tall. Some are quiet and some are not. Some are mean and some are snots (just kidding...or maybe I'm not) Some parents are a little bit much but we always remember, it's the children that give us so much. We see so many, it hard to remember. Is your name Tanner, Taylor, oh yeah it's Trevor!

It's a great place, that place where I work... I feel bad to feel so bad, kind of like a big jerk. I want to stop rhyming but instead I can't stop crying. Today I met an angel. He didn't even need wings. Now all I can think of is his poor parents home alone with all of his things. For a moment today I spent time with this child. The moment too brief, now this grief is driving me wild!!!

Before I was a mother, this medicine fascinated me. How could I have looked at these situations with any kind of glee? Oh, this baby, he was something else. They all are. So why did he have to have bad health? All day today, we all tried to work. But still inside we felt pain and hurt. He wasn't even our patient, another doctor near by. All I can do is ponder why, can't someone tell me why? I think my goodness I just barely played with his toes. Oh this poor baby, that I didn't even know. I just checked his oxygen, his breathing was fine. I need to go home where I have been blessed and I can spend time with mine.

I wanted to write a blog to tell about this cute little guy, a sweet angel that didn't have to die. I don't understand, all I can do is bawl. I didn't even mean to write a poem, not at all...

Amelia can say dada but even better, she can say dad!!! Here is a small clip of her saying, "dad" plain as day. She can also say mama, blah blah and she does a mighty fine raspberry (or zurbert as Brandt calls them.) When she's bored she does what we've dubbed the booger shooter; She'll blow really big in and out of her nose. Another favorite is 'the monster' where she clenches her teeth and blows in and out. Oh she is a funny girl :) She is also just days away from walking so keep a look out for her first steps on video coming to a blog near you.

For the first time today, Amelia dived right into the swimming pool!

She jumps into Daddy's arms.

Hello, Shelly here :) Have I ever told you that I have the most wonderful husband in the world? He is so romantic; for no reason at all he took me out for one of the best nights I've ever had! He told me we were going to go out to a restaurant in town for on a little date while his mom was in town to see Amelia. Shout out to Dorothy, we love her so much!
What a great opportunity to do something fun. So knowing that Amelia and Dorothy would have a grand ol' time together, Dorothy said "peace" and off we went. As we left the house, I thought to myself, "Brandt sure is taking the long way!" Then when we approached the freeway entrance, for a drive that should have been through town, I said to him, "so... a... what are you thinking, why are you going this way, we could've probably been there by now", in my usual 'I'm smarter than you' tone.
Brandt replied,"oh, yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. Well, since we're already on the freeway maybe we should just go to Portland for dinner?" We decided that would be fun after discussing that Dorothy wouldn't mind watching Amelia that long. Brandt said to me, "would you mind grabbing me a tissue out of the glove box?" I opened the glove box to find an envelope with my name on it. Inside the card read, "I'm right beside you... following our dream. We are going to have a great night tonight at Cirque Du Soleil. It has always been of dream of mine to take you to this." I almost cried! What a sweet, incredible surprise. And I was so mean that he had gotten on the freeway :( Oh, and just after I read the card we noticed a beautiful rainbow in the sky (I swear, I'm not making it up, you can even ask Dorothy. I called her to tell her thank you for keeping such a fun secret.)
Brandt told me that he had made reservations to one of my favorite restaurants, P.F. Chang's. We had a great meal - I recommend the lemon pepper shrimp. We then had time to spare before the show, so we walked around downtown P-town (that's what the locals call Portland). We visited a great book store and even saw some angels and stunt men on stilts (Portland is so cool) wandering the streets promoting the very performance we were about to see. Talk about good omens! After getting a little lost (even with the map quest directions,) a little maried-couple-bicker about where to park, and an exciting bicycle carriage ride, we arrived:

SO SO AMAZING!!! When Brandt and I were first dating we took a trip to Vegas and I have been wanting to see a Cirque Du Soleil performance ever since. It was worth the wait. It was so great, we had a ton of fun! We really missed Dorothy and Amelia and were sad that they weren't there with us. By the end of the night we were very tired, neither of us are used to staying up past 9:00! We arrived home to a beautiful sight:

I am so lucky to have such a great husband, a sweet mother in-law, and a perfect angel we call Amelia!

This is a video of Amelia, during some free time, in her swimming class. We go on Saturday mornings and we all have so much fun. We sing interactive songs and even work on some swimming techniques. Amelia is the youngest in class but she does very well for her age. The only thing she doesn't like is if her eyes get wet, so we try as hard as we can to keep her face dry and boogie along. Her favorite toys to play with while we're there are Nemo the fish and a big watering can. You'll hear dad and grandma in the background watching our great big fish do her thing!!!

Sorry, the video isn't very clear. We'll try to get a better one when we go tomorrow :(
